Permission

All healthy relationships have permission; whether that's conversing with nature, with ourselves or something larger than ourselves, in our practices, or offerings to others.

This course is designed for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of personal boundaries, self-advocacy, and authentic communication...with your inner Nature and with Nature.

Beautiful, respectful relationships start with Permission - yes, even ones with Nature. Once you start moving in this way, you'll find Nature speaks more openly with you.
AND...your nervous system will love it.

We've been told that Nature is competitive.

And while there is some competition within Nature there's actually way more cooperation than competitiveness; it's just less sensational and harder to put into a Nature documentary series.

But once you start looking for it, and learn how to see it, you'll notice cooperation and permission everywhere. A soft dance of moving in harmony and respecting boundaries with soft Nos.

Us humans, though, have been rewarded to forget how to hear the soft Nos - both from Nature and from our inner Nature. Just as we might plow through a group of birds causing them to chirp at us and scatter, we can easily and often do miss the soft Nos and whispers of ourselves in our practices.

When the practice becomes connected with permission, it transforms into a beautiful relationship and communication with one's self, a doorway to union.

How we’ll explore a Permission-based way of being

This course is built around the very clear understanding that the only way to really understand what it's like to be in permission with Nature is to be in real direct contact with Nature. In order to understand and experience what it's like to hear permission from Nature, you'll have to get in touch with your relationship with Nature.

So that means...lotsa time outside exploring your own permission boundaries and those of Nature...which will likely come with lots of apologizing and insights as the learning about permission grows.

Thankfully, along with co-operation, Nature has lotsa of compassion, too.

Peer Integration & Shared Reflection

Ask Questions & Get Responses

Even though you can go at your own pace, you don't necessarily have to do it alone...unless you want that (lol) - I'm an introvert, so I get it.

It can be nice to be able to share aha's with others, read about other's aha's, in a casual but supportive way.

Usually with these self-paced offerings, there's no access, or it's a time-limited access, to ask questions.

I'm a deep contemplator myself and the questions don't arise based on someone else's schedule or timing. They come when they come. And that's why there's an #askNatt feature. Ask when you're ready. I'll respond as soon as I can.

How long will it take to complete this course?

There are 8 videos (including introduction) with a total watch-time of 1.75 hours. Each lesson has a focused activity that comes in an easy to download text or audio that supports as you go into Nature or on your mat.

The pacing is gentle, and you’re encouraged to move in a way that honours your energy.

With that in mind, you could structure the timing however you want:
You could set aside a weekend - a mini retreat at home - and complete the course.
You could do an hour a day for 8 days.
Or, if you're like me and tend to like to go deep, you could do a lesson a week and be done in two months.

Why start now?

Because you’re already feeling the pull.

If you’re feeling the nudge to deepen your understanding of how to have a beautiful relationship with Nature, one based on equality and deep insight then this is an inner sense rising up to speak to you - that’s your sense of attraction "speaking".

Permission, and all the Conversations With Nature courses, are available year-round because alignment has its own rhythm.

There’s no deadline to race toward, because well, that's not how Nature works. But if your interest is peaked, then this is your being saying YES!

The Permission course is for Yoga Practitioners and/or Yoga Teachers who:

  • Want to work in an experiential somatic way that allows the knowledge to come from connection and not as a concept, i.e., learn from Nature instead of about Nature - what I call a Prana based practice.

  • Are curious about the intersection of boundaries and permission as they relate to oneself and Nature

  • Want to be able to listen to the land again, to begin to hear the things our ancestors knew - what I believe to be the original way to practice.

  • Want to be able to listen more deeply to ourselves and Nature so that we don’t miss or doubt what we are being told by our bodies & Nature.

  • Explore how to begin to access some of the ways of knowing based on a DIRECT connection with the Land through their bodies and how that's a doorway to a sense of EXPERIENCE of Union.

  • Better understand the aspects of our Koshas (bodies) in connection with Nature.

What the Permission course focuses on:

  • This course dives deeply into the foundations of permission, how to feel them, what is a "No", what is a "Yes", what is a soft "No", and what is a maybe.

  • This course offers up why being able to truly hear a "No" is an important aspect of interacting with Nature.

  • We'll dive into how we might be able to navigate not being hurt or triggered about receiving a No - a very charged thing in for those us raised with a colonialized mindset...whether that's from another or from our own body (or any of the aspects of our being).

  • This course starts to set the stage for how permission-based can inform and transform the way we practice Yoga.

What the Permission course DOESN'T focus on:

  • This course does not tell you WHAT to feel or hear - but rather asks you to be present to this moment and yourself and explore what's really there.

  • You won't be told that things like: The Heart Chakra = x, 3 Owls means X.

  • This course will NOT give you Indigenous knowledge or wisdom but will help in being a better listener if you are invited into those spaces.

Why Learn From Me?

I have a Ph.D in Applied EcoPsychology
(aka Nature Connection)

And I didn't get it because I wanted some fancy letters behind my name but because it truly is a genuine love of mine.
It's been over 25+ years of this work, writing a book called Yoga WITH Nature, offering workshops and retreats...and now online. And I love it even more than I did when I started.

I make it simple but not static

I'm Permission-based

Yup, true story! The older I get the more I appreciate when people get to the point and especially when it comes to being in front of a screen.

I get you the most pertinent stuff so you can take it to go...

The one comment I get the most from new students is this: "I didn't know that this is what my nervous system needed: to be asked permission."

It takes people awhile to understand this, but once they do, it's a game-changer for their interactions.
